Author Guidelines

1. General Information

The Journal of Arts, Management, Education, Law and Social Sciences (JAMESLSS) is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal committed to advancing scholarship across the humanities and social sciences.

The journal operates a double-blind peer review system and follows a Gold Open Access model.

These guidelines ensure clarity, consistency, and high-quality scholarly communication, positioning JAMESLSS for global visibility and indexing.

2. Aims and Scope

JAMESLSS publishes scholarly works in:

  • Arts and Humanities
  • Management and Business Studies
  • Education and Pedagogy
  • Law and Legal Studies
  • Social Sciences

The journal encourages interdisciplinary research and policy-oriented contributions relevant to national and global development.

3. Types of Manuscripts

JAMESLSS accepts various types of articles that fall within its scope and are centred on contemporary issues:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Conceptual Papers
  • Case Studies
  • Short Communications

4. Submission Requirements

Authors must ensure that the prospective manuscripts are original and unpublished and not under review elsewhere. All authors must approve the manuscript for submission, and all relevant ethical standards are observed. All submissions must be made via the ABSU journal's online system (OJS).

5. Manuscript Format

5.1 General Formatting

  • Language: English
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 12
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm)

5.2 Structure of Manuscript

Title Page

  • Title
  • Author names
  • Institutional affiliations
  • Corresponding author email

Abstract (Maximum: 250 words) — should include:

  • Background
  • Objectives
  • Methods/Approach
  • Key findings
  • Conclusion

Keywords: 4–6 keywords

Main Text

Empirical Papers:

  1. Introduction
  2. Literature Review
  3. Methodology
  4. Results and Discussion
  5. Conclusion

Conceptual/Legal Papers:

  1. Introduction
  2. Thematic Analysis
  3. Discussion
  4. Conclusion

Acknowledgements (Optional)

References: All references must follow APA (7th edition). All citations must appear in the reference list.

6. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must be placed appropriately in-text and clearly labelled and numbered in line with the sections of the article. Tables and figures must include titles/captions and must be cited in the text to justify their inclusion.

7. Language and Style

  • Use clear, formal academic English
  • Avoid plagiarism and excessive quotations
  • Legal and policy papers should use proper citation conventions

8. Ethical Considerations

8.1 Plagiarism

All submissions are screened for similarity in line with ABSU Journals plagiarism policy. Acceptable similarity index: ≤ 20%

8.2 Research Ethics

Authors must ensure that ethical approval is sought where applicable. All such approval must be stated in the text in the appropriate section. Consent must be obtained for human subjects regardless of the type of research.

8.3 Authorship

To qualify as an author in any article submitted to JAMESLSS, authors must:

  • Make significant contributions
  • Participate in writing/revision of manuscript
  • Approve final version of manuscript

9. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Where there are none, the author must state: "The authors do not have any form of conflict of interest regarding the publishing of this work."

10. Data Availability

JAMESLSS encourages authors to share supporting data. Authors must share the link to the data related to the work under review. Where exceptions exist, they must be justified in writing as part of the cover letter at the point of submission.

11. Peer Review Process

JAMESLSS adopts a double-blind peer review, with a minimum of two reviewers per article. Decision categories:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

12. Copyright and Licensing

As an Open Access journal, authors retain copyright to their works. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license. Proper citation is required for reuse.

13. Open Access Policy

JAMESLSS operates a Gold Open Access model with an Article Processing Charge of $50.00 (₦50,000.00). Free access for readers; no hidden charges.

14. Publication Timeline

  • Initial screening: 1–2 weeks
  • Peer review: 4–6 weeks
  • Publication: 2–3 months after acceptance

15. Proofs

Authors receive proofs before publication and must complete review within 7 days. Only minor corrections are allowed.

16. Submission Checklist
